About the Club

We would like to introduce you to the West Coast Jet Sprint Club.

Our local club based in Baldivis, has been the home of Jet Sprinting in Western Australia since 1995.

Jet Sprinting is an exciting and spectacular motor sport which has become an integral part of the Kwinana/Rockingham community.

Although modest by motor sport standards Baldivis Jet Sprint Park is the only permanently floodlit Jet Sprint track in Australia/World and is held in high regard by visiting competitors from interstate, New Zealand and Unites States.

So what’s it all about you may ask!

The sport of Jet Sprinting is very similar to rally driving with the major difference being it takes place on water, on a specially designed and excavated track and in a boat.

The track consists of narrow, 5 to 6 metre wide, interconnected channels around islands forming a tight, challenging course in an area not much larger than a football field.

The design of the track caters for many different course variations which allows the club to present a different challenge to the competitors at each race meeting.

Each boat has a crew of two, a driver and a navigator, their challenge being to complete the course in the shortest possible time in the correct sequence. The correct course sequence can involve up to 22 direction changes in less than a minute. Competitors only receive the track map a short time before racing.

The role of the navigator is to memorise the track and then indicate directions accurately to the driver.

The driver has the job of steering a 4 metre long, 600 plus horsepower boat at speeds of up 110kmh around the course in the shortest possible time.

With most Jet Sprint boats weighing only around 550 kilos, they are capable of accelerating to 100kmh in around 2 seconds, which makes for some very spectacular entertainment.

Come and join us and share the thrill of the action that happens on water and sometimes on land!

Do you dare to sit in the navigator seat!

ABOUT THE CLUB

We're excited to introduce you to the thrill and high-octane action of the West Coast Jet Sprint Club.

Based in the beautiful locale of Baldivis, this club has served as the heart of Jet Sprinting in Western Australia since 1995. An integral part of the Kwinana/Rockingham community, Jet Sprinting is an exhilarating motor sport that has grown to become a spectacle of marine mastery.

What's unique about our club is the Baldivis Jet Sprint Park - the only permanently floodlit Jet Sprint track in not just Australia, but the entire world. This modest park is held in high regard by visiting competitors from interstate, New Zealand and the United States, testament to its unique appeal.

So, you may wonder, what is Jet Sprinting all about?
Imagine the thrill of rally driving, but transplanted onto water. Our sport unfolds on specifically designed and excavated waterways that form a tight and challenging course, spread over an area roughly the size of a football field.
The track boasts narrow, interconnected channels around islands, creating an intricate course with countless variations that allows us to provide a fresh challenge for our competitors at each race meeting. This complex route, despite its compact size, can involve as many as 22 direction changes in less than a minute, offering an action-packed and exciting sporting display for our spectators.

Each competing boat houses a crew of two - a driver who manouevres a 4 metre long, 600+ horsepower boat at speeds up to 110km/h, and a navigator who memorises the endlessly mutating course and guides the driver through the intense track. The track map is given just a short time before racing, further amplifying the thrill.

Given the light weight of Jet Sprint boats at around 550 kilos, they have the ability to accelerate to 100km/h in a mind-blowing 2 seconds. This makes for some truly breathtaking and unmissable entertainment.

We invite you to join us, watch from the stands, and share in the thrill of Jet Sprinting. If you're up for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, there's even a chance you might find yourself in the navigator's seat.

Are you brave enough for the challenge? We hope to see you at our next race!

OUR COMMITTEE

There are three main classes for jet sprint racing.

LS CLASS

The LS Class features aluminium LS V8 engines featuring a control camshaft, engine spec from LS1-LS3 (5.7-6.2 litre) of approximately 550+ horsepower.

400 CLASS

An Internationally recognised (UIM) and regulated category that features a 413ci cast-iron V8 engine, traditionally with carburettor and cast-iron heads, 2023 rules also allow for the inclusion of alloy heads and methanol injection. Approximately 700+ horsepower.

UNLIMITED SUPERBOATS

The beasts of V8 Superboats with engines capable of as much as 2000 horsepower. Lightweight naturally-aspirated alloy V8's of over 500ci, to supercharged and twin-turbo induction. The Unlimited rules are effectively just that with very few restrictions.

JUNIORS

The West Coast Jet Sprint Club is not just for adults; we take pride in nurturing the motor-sporting talent of tomorrow too! Our Junior Development class caters to youngsters between the ages of 8 and 14 years.
Each of our junior participants gets to experience the thrill of jet sprint racing in a single-seater fibreglass hull boat. Powered by a 215hp SeaDoo supercharged motor and jet unit, these boats can reach remarkable speeds of up to 120km/hr, all while weighing just 270kg.

However, the safety of our young racers is always our top priority. To ensure this, juniors are regulated with a learner key that restricts the speed and performance capabilities of the supercharged boats. Moreover, all juniors are required to sport full race gear when competing, providing maximum safety. If you don't have the gear, please reach out to the club as we may be able to provide it.
So, if you're between 8-14 years old and are intrigued by the thought of commanding your own jet sprint boat, we'd love to hear from you!

Do keep in mind an adult must be present at all times during racing, preferably on the pit hill. They should also be available to assist the junior on the jetty if needed. For more details, please contact the Club President. Journey into the thrilling world of jet sprinting and find your inner racer!
