The Scoop, From The Cauldron!
Welcome Jet Sprint fans to Round 4 of the 2024 championship season! Tonight we can expect some great racing with the “Fast & Furious” track rotation and a growing line-up of boats and drivers.
We see the return of a familiar face, being Jason Furnell in Skidoo, and also young driver, Serrah Ferris, making her debut in the Group A class driving a new package. She has jumped out of the navi seat of Kraken and into the driver’s seat of her new boat, Up 2 Mischief! Serrah is not new to driving, having been through the club’s junior development program, and also having a go at driving other team’s boats before. We are all excited to see what she can do in Group A.
It’s awesome to see the revival of the Group A class this season, with Serrah joining the ranks tonight and also more drivers expected in the coming rounds.
If you were trackside for Round 3 on the 24th of February, you would have seen some fantastic close racing across all classes! We saw Mick Bayliss make an impressive debut in the LS Class in his boat Stress Factor. Mick has to be congratulated on keeping his boat in the water all night (an impressive feat for a first-timer!) and consistently improving on his times with each qualifier.
In the LS class there were several podium contenders throughout the day, it really was anyone’s game! There were the usual frontrunners Fired Up and Kraken, but Duncan Bailey was back in Farm Boat giving it a red hot crack, as well as team Knackers, and we also saw Kurt Martin in Deadpool noticeably stepping up his times - the team ending up with their first podium finish in 3rd place, The Kraken in 2nd and Fired Up with their third consecutive win for the season.
In Group A Isaac in Indulgence set the pace, but Marty kept chipping away, looking comfortable in All Torque and by the end of the night had closed the gap for a close finish between the two.
It was also close racing in the Unlimited class throughout the day, but an earlier issue with a melted wiring harness in Short Fuse led to a mistake in the elimination, leaving the win for the taking by Stuart and Tylah in Kaos!
Congratulations to all teams! Thank you to all volunteers, safety crew, sponsors and to you – our supporters!
